Trader Joe's

Most of my grocery shopping is done at Trader Joe's. Here is a quote from their website:

"Our logo assures that the products it is on contain NO artificial flavors, colors or preservatives; NO MSG; and NO added Trans Fats. In addition, ALL Trader Joe's private label products are sourced from non-genetically modified ingredients."

I love this! It makes it really easy for me to shop there. The only thing I don't care for is they use a lot of plastic and non-recyclable packaging. This could be improved, especially if we all voice our opinion of them doing a better job in this area.

Nature's Pharm & Kroger

My second and third stores are Nature's Pharm by the Castleton Mall and the organic section at Kroger. Kroger seems to be doing a lot better these days with their organic section and it is very close to my house.

Cow Share

We get our milk from a farm in Kokomo through a cow share program (I belong to a carpool so I don't have to drive to Kokomo every week). When I go to pick up the milk I can buy meats and eggs from the farm too.

Green B.E.A.N. Delivery

We use Green B.E.A.N. Delivery for most of our fresh produce. This is a very nice delivery service that has very reasonable prices. Having fresh fruits and vegetables delivered to your door weekly (they also have bi-weekly) really helps us to eat more more of them. They are continually adding to their offerings so you can order all sorts of things - making life very easy!

This is how I have switched from going to Marsh once a week and not paying any attention to the food we ingest, to shopping at multiple stores and reading all ingredient lists and educating myself on the things I put into my body. It was high time that I was more aware of my life and my ways of living. I also have children now that I am responsible for and I am not taking this lightly. They trust me to take good care of them and I am teaching them how to live a healthy, conscious lifestyle where they are in charge of themselves and the decisions they make. If we don't take care of ourselves, who will?!
